Northwest Arctic

The Northwest Arctic Borough on the north shore of the Seward Peninsula is the second largest borough in Alaska in landmass. Kotzebue is the commercial hub of the region. Communities include Noorvik, Selawik, Ambler, and Kivalina. Most village residents are Inupiat Eskimos with a subsistence lifestyle. The Red Dog Mine, the largest zinc mine in the world, provides some employment.
